Scottish creative Rachel Henderson
and her colourful interiors have been on my radar for a long time now. Rachel has a whole bunch of our biscuit cushions- which look totally at home in her super sweet home in Fife. Since moving into her grannie’s old house, she’s added to her own brand of joyful, nostalgic style to a place already full of happy memories.
She’s a dab hand with all things DIY from spray cans to macrame knots- and I love following her colourful Interior escapades on Instagram stories
You might recognise Rachel’s bright and cheery home from the recent series of Scotland’s Home of the Year on BBC
which (not surprisingly) has been shortlisted as a finalist in tonight’s show. Ahead of the results I chatted to Rachel about her love for interiors and of course, her favourite biscuits
Hello Rachel! Tell us a wee bit about you:
I’m Rachel Henderson, a Crafts Author, Textile Designer, Upcycler and an Interiors Consultant. I live in a little coastal village in Fife, Scotland, across the water from Edinburgh. I run my own craft studio & school where I teach a range of textile homeware workshops and produce designs for magazines and books. I have also just launched my own Interior Design Consultancy.
“My design ethos is bold and brave. I love injecting lots of vibrant colours and patterns into rooms and create spaces that are packed full of personality”
Which of our biscuit cushions do you own- and are these your favourites when it comes to tea time?
I have the yellow Nice
, the Battenburg, the peach party ring, the candyfloss Custard Cream
, the mint Jammy Heart
and the Tunnocks Teacake
. Absolutely – they are perfect to snuggle into when I’m having my afternoon cuppa and biccies on the sofa!
What’s next for you?
We recently got through to the finals of ‘Scotland’s Home of the Year’
on BBC Scotland and the final episode airs [today, 29th May] Wednesday evening (exciting!). I am currently working on a range of fun interior projects for clients and I am going to be collaborating with some of my favourite homeware brands so do watch this space.
I will also be running lots of creative workshops at my studio over the summer months from wet felted sunflowers to macrame hanging planters and I can’t wait!
For more on Rachel and her upcoming workshops- pop over to visit her on www.therachelhendersonstudio.co.uk or follow her lovely instagram here. Be sure to tune in tonight at 8pm on BBC Scotland for the finale of Scotland’s Home of the Year. Good luck Rachel!
